Dragonfly Thoughts

Interface

Water and sky

Pool

Dark fathoms

Swelling

When Sugar Maples flower

Vanishing

As summer wind stirs dry grasses.

Tadpoles

Rise in unison

Vulnerable

White bellies bobbing

Surface

To gulp air

Top-laden

In a place they do not yet belong

Legs

Dangling below

Useless

Risking their lives

Breathe

Life and Death

Parody

Strange  water ballet.

Turtles

Snap and submerge

She

Lounging at the stone’s edge

Watches

Mesmerized by the dance

Wondering

Do they miss their sleek bodies?

Dragonfly

Lights on her hand

Hunting

In this ancient place

Where

There is no

Word

For time…

    1. Thank you. I am not sure I accomplished the busy flight of a dragonfly and the breathlessness of bobbing tadpoles. Try reading it like someone would play a fiddle – up and down bows, line one (inhale), line two (exhale) and so on. Let me know what you think.
