Wisps of Golden Florets

Disoblige  insistent caresses

And winter’s icy kisses,

Daring efflorescence

In a season of declension.

Photo: These are the flowers from the American Witch Hazel tree that is currently blooming in my yard. In the Northeast, Witch Hazel blooms in the autumn. Some varieties will bloom between January and March. One of my trees is over 60 years old, broad, and 30 feet high. It is a beautiful specimen and a delight in the autumn.
