Ravens 

dug their talons

into the rutted facade

of a fence post,

weather-beaten

scorched.

.

She cast her eyes

toward the ground,

Rubble and pebbles,

Dust and detritus,

wistful for beauty.

.

He gazed

Toward sky reflections,

dreaming of gathering

trinkets of love,

to lay at her feet.
