Combustion

flames flicker

and frolic,

flare of fiery

fabric

as vapors

and steam

sublime

into the somber

sky.

.

The remains,

charcoal black,

diffuse

like the streaks

beneath my eyes;

war paint

for the fermenting fear

of losing a battle

not mine to fight.

.

seeking a path

to stillness,

i trace

the seductive curl

of petals

to the interior,

where there is

nothing

to burn.

.
