Azure

water in my cupped palm

that i tenderly pour

into yours

.

has the feel

of a silver maple leaf

resting gently on a sycamore

as mine might rest in yours

.

fingers like feathers

play along the lines

a tender pressure

dappled sunlight

the weight and warmth

of a breath before lips meet skin

running through the notches in my fingers

silk threads, corn silk, milkweed strands, baby’s hair

.

tickling

trickling

and a faint silver

moonlit reflection

leaving the lightest caress

of a shadow

.

a single note falling

fading cool with the breeze

.
