Herding Hens

we determine our future

with each fleeting thought.

though mine tend to scratch and scatter,

digging in the slippery grass.

with apron outstretched,

i try to ease them back through the gate.

but they rise and race randomly,

incessantly attempting to flee the coop.

  1. love this! our chickens run free and always come back to their coop to roost but on stormy days they usually have me chasing them from everywhere – in storms they seek shelter everywhere but their coop or they just enjoy watching me scramble in the wind and the rain!
