Shadow Woman

street lamps

airbrush the bellies

of snow-laden clouds,

as the velvet curtain of night

presses its lips to the dusted streets.

your weary, weighted arm

wraps a shoulder,

in womb, warm comfort down.

i am shadow woman,

woven from wishes,

tucked half lit

in your memory-present.

i vanish from real,

far from anyone’s mind

but my own.
