Peur

the crackling static

of twisted twine

unbound unwound

plexus tether grind

of teeth and steel

shreek and reel

gear to ice

as i rush to splice

unraveling threads

of slipping treads

.

and i am halted

by a stellar embrace

kiss on an upturned face

this misted fall

that bathes the walls

and i reach for you

whom i knew in youth

the comfort of

an invisible love

a pine needle bed

where I pressed my head

beneath the hush and brush

of branches’ breath

the sunset-rose delight

of a dusky twilight

.
