Zephyr

i am the wind

that spans the sea

no mortal man

will capture me

When I was young, my grandfather often read poetry and stories to me. His favorite story to recite was “The Little Mermaid”, Hans Christian Anderson’s original and not Disney.

Will a man choose the truth of his soul or the romance of his ego? As a woman, which one are you to him? For what would you ever surrender your voice? I appreciate the time he took to tell me that story.

  1. I am quite taken with your Grandfather and his teaching, “the truth of his soul or the romance of his ego”. They are lovely on their own but to think about them, then I also appriciate as you say, the time it took him to tell you…jc
