Serenade

sing to me

of reason’s seasoning

and the duplicity

of overthinking

leaning on a starboard reach

~

take the stern

of discernment

as you press

an inaudible kiss

to my sternum

swinging the boom

into a yearning wind

a rescinding

of life’s sorrowful tales

beneath the southern gales

waves felt at depth

~

here the bereft

have wept for our sake

into the wake

of the diatomaceous

where they are swept

into detritus

building the cliff’s

towering steps

and i press

into your palm

the secrets

my heart has kept

~
