Heat Lightning

scuff a heel

on concrete and steel

while a cigarette rolls

its last gasp of smoke

into a gutter gone broke

with a false sense of absurdity

reflecting in obsidian coffee

as i sip a bitter confection

of the rejection

layered and bound

with the flounce

of a translucent gown

bangles unlatched

on the catch of twigs

but my taste is nature sweet

ripe and savory

without a Kantian reduction

to flavor me

i soar above

the atmospheric line

a moment younger than time

and i will never be captured

by fantasmigoric rapture

a presence that flattery

will never steal

for i am unified

and real
